PRINCETON, N.J.—Security industry veteran Frank De Fina, who served as a top executive for a number of video surveillance companies including Panasonic, Samsung, SightLogix and most recently Hikvision USA, died over the weekend.

Marty Borer, 36, is the new general manager of Quick Response, a 24/7 monitoring company for security and burglary, fire, PERS and two-way voice monitoring. Before joining the company, based in Cleveland, he worked in operational management and IT, and, also, previously ran a dry cleaning business. Joining a security company fulfilled his desire to widen his skillset, he said. Security Systems News caught up with Borer to ask him five questions.

DALLAS—The North American market for mass notification systems is getting saturated, IHS said, projecting the MNS market in the entire Americas region to see a CAGR of around 5.3 percent. However, MNS software is still driving the market’s growth.
