BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—An Alabama woman was getting ready to go to her beauty parlor when she felt ill. She pressed her medical-alert button, but wasn’t able to speak when the AvantGuard operator answered her call, according to a recent release from AvantGuard.

AvantGuard sent paramedics, who transported the woman to the hospital to be treated for food poisoning.

“When they got me to the hospital, they told me that I was fortunate to have my little medical button,” the woman told AvantGuard. “My body was not fighting the food poisoning like it should have and my organs almost shut down.”

AvantGuard thanked its operators and the PERS dealers who installed the medical alert system.
