2GIG signs distributor, prominent dealer Arizona super-regional Safeguard Security newest convert

Normal 0 0 1 275 1573 13 3 1931 11.1287 0 0 0 MELVILLE, N.Y.—2GIGTechnologies on March 19 signed a distribution agreement with Security General International and announced that a prominent super-regional—Safeguard Security of Scottsdale, Ariz.—will become one of its first independent dealers.

2GIGTechnologies president Todd Santiago said the deal with SGI is “really important to us. We've had a ton of interest in our equipment and ... this deal will enable us to make the product available to additional dealers throughout the country.”

Last year, 2GIG began manufacturing its GO!Control panel, a self-contained, security and home-management system with color LCD touch screen, a built-in GSM radio that enables two-way voice calls over cellular, and an embedded Z-Wave module “that transforms the panel into a home automation control device” with the ability to integrate HVAC, lighting and other appliance control.

“We have more than 10,000 systems installed in homes across the country. The reviews and responses from the actual end users have been fantastic,” Santiago said. “We believe we have the equipment and technology that the market has been asking and looking for and we are thrilled.”

Charles Vickers, SGI marketing director, said he likes the product's up-to-date technology, ease of use and installation, and “nice clean look.” SGI, which distributes products throughout North America, “also have a relative sense of exclusivity,” Vickers said. “Not every distributor has this on their shelf.”

John Jennings [CEO of Safeguard Security] is a “well respected industry veteran who's been evaluating our equipment and has approved it for use,” Santiago said. “For us this is additional validation that our GO!Control panel is not only something that customers like, but it's a reliable, robust equipment platform” that companies like Safeguard and APX Alarm have decided to use. Summer-model giant APX Alarm announced in November that it would begin installing 2GIG's panels in January 2010.

“We have a ton of momentum,” Santiago said. “Customers are absolutely loving our system.”

Partnerships with other distributors, dealers and dealer programs will be forthcoming, Santiago said.
