The A’s have it
February 10, 2005
WORCESTER, Mass. - American Alarm & Communications expanded its reach in the Worcester suburbs, buying Argus Alarm, a small company that has been in business since the early 1970s.
The transaction is a strategic move for the company, providing it with a sizeable piece of business in this area. It also complements American Alarm’s acquisition of Alphatronics Security of Worcester, the July 2003 deal that added an office in central Massachusetts and increased American Alarm’s business by 15 percent.ÂÂ
Thanks to buying Argus Alarm, American Alarm gains former owner Kenneth Gorczynski, who will remain onboard in a sales capacity, and technician Roger Bohn, who worked for Argus Alarm for 18 years. Gorczynski’s wife, Kristine, who handled bookkeeping and administration, will retire.
According to officials at American Alarm, Argus Alarm’s customers will now be monitored through its Arlington, Mass.-based central station. The company serves more than 16,000 commercial and residential customers and reports annual sales of approximately $10 million.
