Access control, biometric firms advise government

WASHINGTON--Biometric and access control-related companies have come together to form the Voluntary Credentialing Industry Coalition to serve as an advisory voice to the U.S. government. Members include ARINC, GE Security, Iridian Technologies, Saflink, ImageWare, Lockheed Martin, Panasonic, and Verified Identity Pass. The coalition will weigh in on large-scale voluntary credentialing projects such as Verified Identity Pass and the Registered Traveler program, which is headed by Saflink. Both programs seek to sign up frequent flyers to services that expedite airport security in exchange for a fee and a voluntary background check administered by the Transportation Security Authority.
