Adesta upgrades security on the BART

OMAHA--Adesta, a systems integrator and project management company for communication networks and electronic security systems, has been awarded a $5.9 million contract to upgrade security for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART). The project will take place in the cities of San Francisco and Oakland. Completion is projected for early 2010. Adesta will implement a physical security device installation program in BART train stations. Nearly all the deployment activities will take place during night and weekend hours in order to avoid impacting the normal, daily transit operations for Bay Area commuters. The high-tech security equipment Adesta is installing will result in significant communication and infrastructure upgrades to several San Francisco and East Bay BART stations as well as the Transbay Tube, which runs under the San Francisco Bay and carries half of BART’s 379,000 riders each workday.
