ADS builds density with MBN buy

AURORA, Ill.--Alarm Detection Services completed a tuck-in acquisition of the security operations of MBN Home Theater and Security Systems, a move that will build ADS's density southwest of its headquarters here, Terry Olah, ADS CFO told Security Systems News this week.

MBN Home Theater and Security Systems is located in Morris, Ill. Former owner Mark Blackwell, owner of MBN, will join ADS as a sales executive and will continue to operate a home theater business on his own.

Olah said that ADS has some accounts in and around Morris, "but MBN has been the dominant security company with customers he's built up over 20 years," Olah said. "It's fantastic for us [to have him working for us]."

This acquisition brings with it between 600 and 700 accounts and ups ADS' account count to more than 27,000.

Noting that ADS has done a number of acquisitions over the years, Olah said "there's three things we do in a deal: We give the seller a good deal; it's a great deal for the customer because we can typically offer more services than a small company; and in the end it's a great deal for us ... All three sides win. That's what we look to do."
