ADT names Jim DeVries as president DeVries joined ADT in May 2016 from Allstate

BOCA RATON, Fla.—ADT recently announced that Jim DeVries, the company's COO, will be promoted to the role of president; DeVries told Security Systems News that it is a newly created position at ADT.

ADT also announced several other key leadership changes, which are effective immediately. Jamie Haenggi has been named chief sales and marketing officer, assuming responsibility for ADT's National Sales Center (NSC) in addition to her current role as chief marketing officer.

Dan Bresingham, previously chief of staff, has been named ADT's chief administrative officer, spearheading ADT's merger and acquisitions strategy, business operations, and human resources.

Steve Hopkins, currently an interim leader for ADT's Canadian operations, has formally been named president, ADT Canada. Haenggi, Bresingham and Hopkins will report directly to DeVries, a key expansion to DeVries' previous role as COO.

As with his previously role, DeVries will report to ADT's CEO Tim Whall. “Jim's leadership style and experience in large, complex organizations has made a significant impact on the ADT turnaround since joining our organization last May,” Whall said in a prepared statement.

DeVries told SSN in an email interview that his focus is “largely unchanged with the top priorities being: A focus on delivering world-class service to our customers and lowering attrition, a focus on growing our business through expanding our core offerings and growing new markets, [and] a focus on creating a great place to work where we can continue to attract and retain the best talent in the industry,” he said.

The company has done well in the past 16 months, DeVries said, since its acquisition by Apollo Global Management was finalized in May 2016, “but there's still a great deal to do.”

He continued, adding that ADT will “continue driving improvements in our call centers, field service organization and installation processes—the improvements are anchored in an operating philosophy of consistent, continual improvement … being better tomorrow than we are today. We have a great deal of positive momentum, and we're not even close to being where we want to be."

Prior to joining ADT in May 2016, DeVries served as Allstate's executive vice president of brand operations.
