Alarm industry investor, David Bergmann, dies

January 6, 2005 HUNTLEIGH, Mo. - David Bergmann, a long-time member of the security industry, died unexpectedly Dec. 24, after falling through the ice on a pond near his home while rescuing his dog. Bergmann, 55, first became involved in the security industry in 1992, when he made a personal investment in Interface Systems. Later that year, he started financial firm Advantage Capital, which marked its first investment in the security industry by providing funding to Louisiana Security Holdings, a business that merged with Interface Security to become what is today known as Interface Security Systems Holdings. From 1995 to 2001, Bergman served as chairman of Interface Security. On several occasions, Bergmann served as a participant on panel discussions during the Barnes Buchanan Conference. Bergmann leaves behind a wife, Peggy, a daughter and a son.
