Associations conducting VoIP survey

SILVER SPRING, Md.--The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and the Security Industry Association have joined forces to learn more about how companies within the industry are dealing with the VoIP issue. The two associations are conducting a two-week on-line survey that concludes on July 8. Dealers, integrators and manufacturers are invited to participate. "Primarily, we are trying to find out how many people are aware of the VoIP and VoIP monitoring issue," said Dale R. Eller, director of education and standards at NBFAA. NBFAA and SIA have shared their subscriber lists in order to attract as many people to the nine-question survey. Eller said he hopes the outcome of the poll is a better understanding of the community's knowledge of VoIP and how to best educate people in the future. "We're trying to find out if they have considered what the training impact is," he said, referring to targeted educational seminars on the topic. "We will try to identify what that training is and how to satisfy that training need." This can include on-line courses, in-house classes and manufacturer-led training sessions, he said. For more information visit either the NBFAA's website at www.alarm.org or SIA's website at www.siaonline.org.
