Bosch buys German video IP firm

July 15, 2004 FAIRPORT, N.Y. - Bosch Security Systems has bought a German-based, video-over-Internet technology company that is expected to help continue its expansion into the digital security market. In early July, Bosch Security Systems bought Video Communication Systems for an undisclosed amount. The company reported sales of $10.5 million in 2003 and employs more than 40 people. “Their technology will help us transition proprietary analog-based CCTV products rapidly into digital, network systems,” said Dan Reese, director of CCTV Product Management for Bosch, in a prepared statement. VCS is known for developing and producing networked-based surveillance products, including imaging servers, DVRs, network video recorders and video management system. Officials from Bosch plan to integrate VCS’ technology into the Bosch Security Systems infrastructure.
