Westar, Protection One board members step down TOPEKA, Kan. - Two men who served on Westar Energy’s Board of Directors resigned from the board in mid-May, according to officials. Dr. Gene A. Budig, who had also served on the boards of Protection One Inc. and Protection One Alarm Monitoring since 2001, and on Westar’s board from 1987 to 1998 and rejoined in 1999, left to pursue further academic interests, officials said. Budig is the former chancellor of Kansas University. Frank Becker, who sat on Westar’s board since 1992, left to devote his time to personal and business interests. Becker is the president of Becker Investments Inc. in Lawrence, Kan. Armstrong’s Communications opens new central DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia - Armstrong’s Communication Ltd. in April opened a new central station here, where the company monitors its 16,000 accounts. Armstrong broke ground on the facility last summer. The company monitors accounts for about 150 dealers throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, Canada and in Maine. Director elected to CSAA board VIENNA, Va. - Russ Cersosimo, president of Guardian Protection Services in Pittsburgh, has been elected to serve as a director on the board of the Central Station Alarm Association, based here. Cersosimo founded Guardian Protection as a one-man shop in 1975 and today the company employs 500 people. Cersosimo has also been awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award, sponsored by USA Today, NASDAQ and Ernst & Young.
