NFPA opens Sacramento office SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The National Fire Protection Association has opened an office here to assist state agencies in making specific amendments to the association’s fire and building codes. California adopted NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code and NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code in July as the bases for the 2004 California Building Code and California Fire Code. The office staff will provide technical and clerical support to the state’s code groups throughout the code amendment process. RadioShack picks Fire Systems Design HURST, Texas - Fire Systems Design, a fire alarm contractor based here, was selected to furnish and install a fire alarm system for the new RadioShack Riverfront campus in downtown Fort Worth. RadioShack’s new corporate offices will consist of 900,000 square feet of office space in four buildings and a parking garage for 2,700 cars. FSD President Carl Ball said this project, in which the company installed a Notifier ONYX fire alarm network, is the largest current office space construction project in North Texas. Midwest takes home Notifier prize DAVENPORT, Iowa - Midwest Alarm Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Per Mar Security Services, took home the Notifier Fire Systems “Distributor of the Year” award for 2003. The honor was given out at Notifier’s recent Distributor Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. in late September and was accepted by Dustin Smyth, the president of Midwest Alarm Services.
