A buying year for Per Mar

A buying year for Per Mar

WAUSAU, Wis.--For Per Mar Security, 2006 is an acquisition year, said president Bill Jackson. The full-service security company with 20 branch offices throughout the Midwest closed a deal on March 1 to acquire the accounts and assets of CentralCom, of Stevens Point, Wis. No terms were released. This acquisition comes 28 days after Per Mar's acquisition of Associated Security of Madison (see related story, page 31). "One thing that's different about this acquisition is the subscriber count is misleading," Jackson said. "We're only picking up about 300 accounts, but this really represents a lot more business than it sounds like," he explained. CentralCom is an integrator that does mostly commercial work. The company was owned by four people: Michael Skalecke, Wayne Hilgart and Kathy and Lee Bernardo. The Bernardos will pursue other business ventures, but Skalecke and Hilgart will stay on with Per Mar, as will the six other employees of the business. CentralCom will be folded into Per Mar's electronic security office here, which has about 2,750 monitored accounts. The consolidation was expected to be complete by mid-March. "What makes us unique is that we are full-service security, with guards, the whole range of electronic security, access control and CCTV, including high-end projects, and we also have a consulting and investigation business," Jackson said. "Very few companies do what we do and none do it all like we do. It's been a good business model for us."
