Canadian fire co. opens U.S. distribution office

NIAGRA FALLS--Mircom, a Canadian manufacturer of fire alarm systems, will soon have a new locale from which to base its U.S. operations. It's opening up a distribution center in Niagra Falls, according to a March 7 story in the Buffalo Business Journal.
The company has a number of customers on the West Coast and in the Southeast, but ultimately decided to stay close to home base in Toronto. The report says Mircom will be moved into a 12,500-square foot space by this spring. The company has 325 mostly Canada-based employees. They plan to initially hire 12 new workers for the Niagra Falls office. Mircom plans to add light manufacturing at this location, and more employees within the next 12 months.
