WINDSOR, Ontario--A home CCTV camera helped exonerate former NHL Redwings player Bob Probert of charges that he assaulted a police officer. According to a Windsor Star news report, police responded to a "frantic" July 1 emergency call from Probert's wife, who said Probert had been drinking and punched a hole in a wall. Probert has done jail time for smuggling cocaine, been convicted of assaulting a police officer and been cited for impaired driving in the past. In this instance, however, Probert's home security system showed he had not assaulted a police officer. In fact, the camera showed he was backing away from officers when they sprayed him with pepper spray.
