Chamberlain Group acquires International Electronics, Inc.

ELMHURST, Ill.--The Chamberlain Group, a manufacturer of commercial door operators, gate operators, telephone entry systems and related access control products, announced July 31 the acquisition of International Electronics, Inc., based in Vancouver, Wash., a manufacturer of professional electronic products under such brands as Oracle and Reporter, and often with wireless capabilities. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. This is not the same International Electronics, an access control manufacturer based in Massachusetts, that is being acquired by Linear (search "Linear adds Allstar, IEI," at www.securitysystemsnews.com). Chamberlain operates in the professionally installed security market under the Elite and Sentex brands, both going to market through a certified dealer network. Chief executive officer David Rolls said in a statement he was interested in leveraging "IEI's existing array of wireless technologies throughout our residential and commercial access control product suites." IEI president and chief executive officer Shary Nassimi will remain with the company in a consulting role.
