C.M.S. teams up with AVC for video monitoring

MEDFORD, NY-Central station C.M.S. Monitoring has teamed up with Advanced Video Communication to offer dealers a turnkey remote video monitoring system and monitoring services. Together, the two companies are making available the system and monitoring, along with providing dealers training and technical assistance. The video monitoring system, which includes two dome cameras, costs around $3,300 but the price can decrease to $2,200 depending on whether a longer monitoring contract is signed. Video monitoring for the dealer at C.M.S.'s central station here costs approximately $150 a month, with mark-ups for the dealer of around $250 to $300. "This is an added revenue stream for dealers," said Hanan Gur, president of AVC in New York. Since the partnership launched in the fall more than 40 monitored video accounts have come online at C.M.S., according to C.M.S. president Carl Mott. "I don't know how fast it's going to grow," said Mott, whose central now monitors more than 100,000 accounts. "But by the end of next year we expect a few hundred on-line." Company officials expect the system will appeal to dealers' customers because it eliminates the need for them to take care of the system themselves.
