CSM to double capacity for accounts Company to increase the number of monitoring center operators

ESTACADA, Ore.—Central Station Monitoring, a wholesale monitoring center based here, is reorganizing its central to make room for doubling its operators, which will allow the company to grow.

CSM, through moving monitoring equipment out of the operators' room, will double its capacity for dispatchers. “We have five operators on, the majority of the time, and we're going to make it so that we can have a total of 10,” Justin Gates, CSM's business manager, told Security Systems News.

The expansion should be completed by the end of the year, Robbin Cleveland, CSM's general manager, told SSN. The company has so far moved all of its servers to a new room, and will soon move its receivers.

The company currently monitors for about 21,000 accounts, about 60 percent of which are residential, 40 percent are commercial, according to Gates. Although the company is nearly at capacity now, Gates said it “could probably grow to 40,000 accounts with double the operators.

"Our equipment can handle 150,000 accounts; we've built it to have a large expansion over the long term,” Gates said.

CSM's account base is mainly in Washington and Oregon, “but a vast majority are in the Portland-metro area,” Cleveland said.

“We have a pretty strong selling point with the fact that our central station's located within the phone company [Reliance Connects], so we really don't see many phone issues,” Gates said.
