Deadline for home CO Detectors

Deadline for home CO Detectors Brief

BOSTON--State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan and other fire officials here worked hard over the past few months to get the word out about the new requirement for home carbon monoxide detectors, the Holbrook Sun reported. As the result of "Nicole's law," passed in November, all homes are required to have carbon monoxide detectors by March 31. Hardwired systems, which may be appropriate in certain multi-family dwellings and which do not need to be installed in every floor, have a deadline of Jan. 1, 2007. Homes will be inspected for detectors upon sale or transfer.
