Diebold buys Australian, New Zealand-based integrator

September 18, 2003 NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Systems integrator Diebold, Inc. has acquired Vangren Technology, a company specializing in the sales, service and installation of electronic security solutions throughout Australia and New Zealand. The purchase enables Diebold to expand its reach outside the United States, said Bartholomew J. Frazzitta, vice president of security for Diebold. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Vangren is regarded as one of Australia's leading privately-held electronic security and system integration companies with installations in financial institutions, government facilities, hospitals, airports and other corporate facilities. The company has a staff of 71 employees located throughout Australia. "Vangren's vast knowledge and experience in the Australian security market, coupled with Diebold's financial strength and broad service infrastructure, provides a powerful solution that will significantly benefit both Diebold's and Vangren's customers and set the stage for further expansion in this region,"said Frazzitta. Casey Van Engelen, Vangren's managing director, will join Diebold as division manager, Electronic Security Solutions, Australia, and will oversee the newly formed operation. According to Reg Bohler, managing director of Diebold Australia, the acquisition enables Diebold to increase its market share in Australia and to increase service coverage for current and future customers.
