DMP expansion underway

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--In response to increased demand for its IP-ready control panels, Digital Monitoring Products is expanding its headquarters here to make more room for new-product development and customer service operations. The construction--which began in May and expected to be completed in November--will expand the facility by 40 percent and enable DMP to increase production, according to David Peebles, vice president of manufacturing at the company. "We will expand our warehouse and automate much of our material handling, allowing us to dramatically increase our productivity output while maintaining the same quality," he said. DMP specializes in network ATM security in the banking industry and centralized networked security for multiple retail chain store outlets. The company's sales in the financial, retail and government markets have increased in recent months, said Gary Kallman, vice president of sales and marketing, which has fueled the company's need to expand. DMP is a privately held company and does not disclose its revenue figures. What sets DMP apart is the fact that its products offer onboard Ethernet connectivity, said Kallman. Customers prefer the IP capability because it's faster, more economical and messages can be encrypted, he explained. "There's clearly a trend in the industry toward IP technology. Everyone wants to be on the web," said industry analyst Joseph Freeman, principle at J.P. Freeman Co. For more on this story, see the August issue of Security Systems News.
