DVTel acquires SAI to enhance open standards

LAS VEGAS--On the ISC West floor, April 6, DVtel, a manufacturer of intelligent security solutions over IP networks, announced a merger with Security Applications Inc., a software development company that designs IP-based access control systems. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, according to a press release, DVTel will maintain the company's operations at its Fishkill, N.Y., office. It is too early after the close of the deal to determine if SAI will be branded under DVTel or what other internal changes will occur, said Dave Swartz, vice president of SAI. DVTel wanted a unified video and access control system and SAI's solution fits seamlessly into the DVTel Intelligent Security Operations Center. Swartz added that DVTel and SAI believe products must be IP-based and open in both computer platforms and security hardware.
