CAMBRIDGE, England--Fen Technology, in conjunction with Securecom Technologies, developed a panic alarm system that provides location information when activated. The unit is comprised of a wearable pendant with Bluetooth technology and either a Bluetooth-enabled GSM mobile phone or satellite phone.
The product, branded Wireless Personal Alarm, can be used to send alerts via a handset to a list of pre-programmed numbers or directly to a monitoring firm. Once activated, the user's location is determined either through the use of the wireless network or GPS satellites.
The companies expect to commercialize the product by the third quarter.
