EverCommerce acquires SGS Bold Perennial president Rod Coles talks with SSN about significance of deal

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—EverCommerce announced the acquisition of the Calif.-based central station software company Secure Global Solutions (SGS), producer of the software platform, stages. This is the fourth company in less than a year to enter the Bold Group Security Division of companies, which consists of Bold, Perennial, SIMS, and now SGS.

Rod Coles, president of Bold Perennial, said in the announcement, “We're so pleased to bring SGS into our family of companies. The stages software is an excellent complement to our product line and enables us to provide a robust and complete business offering for every type of security company. We can now begin to leverage the synergies across the various platforms to provide even better products and services for our customers.”

Coles told Security Systems News how the SGS software solutions complement what Bold offers.

“Bold's customer focus has traditionally been in the medium to large central station, with emphasis on the 'full service central station'—this is where our Manitou product really excels,” Coles told SSN. “SGS focus has been in the large to huge central station with specific emphasis on the 'wholesale central station,' which is where the Stages product excels and SIMS has focused on the small to medium central station with emphasis on the 'proprietary central station.' With the SGS and the Stages product joining the Bold Group we can provide complete solutions for all company types and sizes.”

Matt Feierstein, President & COO of EverCommerce, added, “I am incredibly excited about the future of SGS as an integral part and complementary product offering in the EverCommerce ecosystem.”

SGS was founded in 2006 and their enterprise-level software serves some of the largest central stations in the United States. Thom Meyer, senior vice president of SGS, said in the announcement that the company is excited to be joining the Bold Group.

“SGS was founded on the principle of providing a superior, next generation automation platform to the alarm and security industry, backed by outstanding service and customer care,” Meyer said. “We will continue with this philosophy and continue to deliver innovative solutions and provide exceptional care to all our customers. Looking forward, this merger provides us with greater resources and industry exposure, and allows us to deliver our boutique service and our innovative solutions to a broader audience. The future of stages has never been brighter.”

Bold Perennial is introducing SGS to their customers next week at the SedonaOffice Users Conference in Marco Island, Fla. Meyer is attending on behalf of the company and looks forward to meeting with the attendees, many of whom are also SGS customers.

Coles told SSN that 2019 “will be a year of consolidation. We will be focusing on leveraging a lot of the assets we have purchased and how best to use them across all of our customer base. This is really a case of the sum of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Not only have we acquired three great Alarm Automation products in Stages, Manitou and SIMS, we have the two industry leading back office products of SedonaOffice and AlarmBiller.”

He continued, “Additionally, we have by far the most industry knowledge and experience with our staff over any of our competition. Longer term we will be building upon these products, creating exciting new integrations and we will continue to lead the industry as we have always done with innovative products. The Bold Group has begun 2019 as the #1 software company in the security industry, and we will continue to look for further opportunities to grow both organically and by acquisition.”
