FDA approves Intel health monitoring device

LOS ANGELES--Intel announced on July 11 FDA approval of its in-home monitoring system to help support home monitoring of patients with chronic conditions, reported Bloomberg News/Los Angeles Times. The device, called the Health Guide system, is intended to let physicians and health-care professionals interact with patients online and remotely manage their chronic conditions. Intel expects the system to be commercially available through health care providers in the fourth quarter of 2008 or in the first quarter of 2009.
