Female guard wins discrimination lawsuit

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis security guard has won her sexual discrimination complaint against the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Marriott Hotels. Kathryn Gruenhagen will receive $45,000 from the Marriott and $30,000 from the Jaguars. Gruenhagen was assigned to the Jaguars’ floor at the hotel in December 2001, when the team was in town to play the Minnesota Vikings. According to KSTP-TV in Minneapolis, she was told to go home because the team wanted only male security guards. She filed a sexual discrimination complaint with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, which she won in late October.
