Fire-Lite donation provides training

NORTHFORD, Conn.--Fire-Lite Alarms announced July 10 it has donated equipment to the Moraine Valley Community College Fire Science Technology Program of Palo Alto, Calif. Future fire inspectors and first responders receive training through this program.
Fire-Lite donated a new MS-9050UD addressable fire alarm control panel and System Sensor donated smoke detectors, strobes, and water flow and tamper alarms. Both companies are part of Honeywell Fire Systems.
Jim Simmons of Simmons Contracting, a local Fire-Lite installer, helped set up the system, which operates the same as a building's true fire alarm system. "This is an elite fire science lab that trains fire personnel from throughout the [Mid- and Western] U.S. I've been in this business for 27 years and I believe Fire-Lite's equipment is the best out there," Simmons said.
Nearly 400 students attend more than 40 fire science classes at the college. "Having updated equipment is very beneficial to providing our students a realistic understanding of what they will encounter today and in years to come," Andrew Hufnagl, coordinator of the Moraine Valley program, said in a statement.
