Five Questions: Alex Johnson, Verint

Alex Johnson is senior director, analytics and strategy at Verint Systems, Inc., creators of Actionable Intelligence that empowers customer engagement and cyber intelligence organizations with crucial insights, enabling them to anticipate, respond and take action. Johnson has about 18 years of experience in the industry, getting his feet wet as product manager for Loronix. Security Systems News asked him five questions.

Are you married? Any kids?
Yes I am married, and very excited to report that we just celebrated our 25th anniversary! We have Two high schoolers — a 15-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son.

What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy backpacking as well as volunteering at our local Humane Society.

Is there something interesting that your coworkers might not know about you?
I used to teach dog obedience classes. It turns out dealing with the people was harder than training the dogs!

How did you first get started in the industry?
I started in the industry as product manager for Loronix (now Verint) in 2001. Previously, I was in the data storage industry and moving to an industry that utilized a lot of storage for video was a natural transition.

What trends are you seeing right now in the industry?
We are seeing many companies beginning to offer cloud solutions. Most of the solutions are utilized for centralized management or remote viewing today, but it will be interesting to watch the transition to in-cloud storage over the next few years, as bandwidth improves and cloud-storage costs decrease.
