Fort Smith, Ark. enacts false alarm ordinance

FORT SMITH, Ark. - A July 22 story from KSFM TV reported the Fort Smith City council approved a new false alarm ordinance on July 20.

The ordinance lowers the number of allowed false alarms a year without fines from 7 to 4. Previously, on the seventh false alarm, the owner would be fined $25. The fine increased for each subsequent alarm. But now the owner will be fined $100 on the fourth false alarm in a year, and for each one after that.
