Fourth one's a charm

EDMONTON, Alberta--When it comes to opening new locations, Convergint Technologies is not exclusively focusing on the U.S. market. Besides plans to open a branch in Washington this year, the company recently set up shop here to provide security services to one of Canada's telecom companies. For Convergint Technologies, it marks its fourth Canadian location. The company also operates branches in Calgary, Lethbridge and Fort McMurray, all of which are located in the same western province of Alberta. "Our strategy is to be strong on service," said Dan Moceri, president and co-founder of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Convergint Technologies, a systems integration firm with 14 branches in North America. Within the first year of operation, Moceri expects the Edmonton location to employ 12 people. He said the company's western Canada operations focus on providing integrated security systems for the telecommunications and oil industries.
