Fruitland says yes to some sprinklers Brief

FRUITLAND, Md.--The Fruitland City Council decided in a unanimous July 11 vote to require the installation of sprinkler systems in new residential duplexes, but not in new single family homes, The Daily News reported. The draft ordinance would have required all future residential construction to install a sprinklers. Local and state fire officials attending the meeting spoke in support of requiring sprinklers in all new residences, but were unable to win full support of the five-member council. Nearby Salisbury is expected to consider a similar sprinkler law by the end of the year.
