SUDBURY, Mass.--CE Hagarty & Associates, a recruiting firm focused on the fire, security, and building controls industries, launched in October a new online service, www.careertraction.com, designed as a resource for hiring managers in need of recruiting support.

“I’m being dragged kicking and screaming onto the Internet,” said Carl Hagarty, Hagarty & Associates president. “The work that we do is really people-based and focused on networking, but, with the world we live in today, everything is going the way of the Internet.” He said the new site would primarily be a place to find people for non-managerial positions, sales positions, and “very senior technician positions,” along with some sales managers and installation managers.

There has been a lot of activity in fire-and-security hiring this fall. In September, the NBFAA and CSAA launched the Security Industry Recruiting Center, an online place where you can post resumes and review job listings. Earlier this year, Outsource Telecom launched Building Technology Staffing (find it through www.alarm.org or www.csaaul.org), a service that offers temporary and full-time staffing to the fire, security, and building automation sector.

Part of the activity is based on what’s seen as a limited pool of talent. “There are very few companies out there that are looking for people from outside the industry,” said Hagarty. “In just about every case, it’s got to be an alarm guy.”
