QUINCY, Mass.--The NFPA board of directors in February appointed a new member, John C. Harrington, to the Association's Standards Council. The board also re-appointed current members Shane Clary of Bay Alarms in Californnia and Ronald Farr of Kalamazoo Township Fire Department in Michigan for three-year terms.
Harrington is currently an assistant vice president and senior engineering technical specialist at FM Global of Norwood, Mass., where he is responsible for construction fire hazards standards development, risk service fire testing coordination for clients, building code issues, technical training, and technical committee involvement and coordination.
Harrington has served on several NFPA committees, on the International Code Council, and Fire Safety Committee. The 13-member NFPA Standards Council oversees the NFPA codes and standards-making process, acting as administrator of rules and regulations, and serving as an appeals body.
