HID forms alliance group to promote interoperability

October 21, 2004 IRVINE, Calif. - HID has formed a new industry group to promote interoperability of its contactless access control cards and readers with those applications distributed by third-party hardware and software providers. The new initiative, named the Alliance and Partners Program, will be led by Dovell Bonnett, who has been promoted to director of alliances and partners from manager. As part of the program, HID intends to create awareness of its products as further development and availability of them evolve, as a result of the program. For example, the company seeks to position itself as a provider of technology for not just physical access but also emerging uses including logical access and cashless vending. Bonnett, who is leading the program, is a member of the Smart Card Alliance and has worked for Motorola, National Semiconductor and Siemens in the past. In his new role, Bonnett will also direct the company’s existing iClass Development Partner and eProx programs in addition to its Secure Multi-Access Ready-to-Ship program.
