IdentiSys buys Photo I.D. Systems & Supplies Newly added company had high margins

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—IdentiSys, an integrator that specializes in identification systems, announced June 2 that it has acquired Photo I.D. Systems & Supplies, based in Cincinnati.

The purchase will bring IdentiSys about $1 million in revenue. “It's good revenue, and the margins she [Elaine Margolis, president and founder of Photo I.D. Systems] was realizing were very strong,” Deb Ferril, president and COO of IdentiSys, told Security Systems News. Once Photo I.D. Systems is folded into the IdentiSys, “the net effect of those [high] margins will be much greater,” Ferril said.

This is IdentiSys' 11th acquisition in nine years. The most recent was Mountainland in September 2012.

Ferril said that most of the company's recent acquisitions have been “with profiles similar to IdentiSys and with a regional focus,” she said. Photo I.D., on the other hand, does business nationally, and was a formidable competitor in Cincinnati, Ferril said.

“The vast majority of her customers were in a region [encompassing] Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, but she sold nationwide,” Ferril said.

IdentiSys sells identification, security and tracking solutions. Photo I.D. has been in business since 1987 and has particular expertise in corporate, government, financial, healthcare and education verticals.

Margolis, Photo I.D.'s former owner, and her team will join IdentiSys.
