Identix to fingerprint Lone Star State

MINNETONKA, Minn.--Indentix added another to the roster of states it provides fingerprinting services to when it scored a contract with Texas on September 6. The multi-biometric technology company won an exclusive three-year contract with the Texas Department of Public Safety to provide electronic fingerprinting services and related processing for licensing and employment purposes for the state. Because of federal and state legislation passed in recent years, the number of job and volunteer categories requiring fingerprinting has grown over the past few years. Identix already provides similar services to Missouri, Michigan, California, Illinois and Tennessee. Under the Texas contract, Identix will also provide photo capture and submission services for each applicant to the department. The contract may be extended twice for a three-year period. The value of the contract for Identix is partially dependent upon the number of people fingerprinted. According to a spokesman, the contract could translate into annual revenue of between $2 and $4 million.
