IHS ranks Hikvision tops in IP video globally

HANGZHOU, China–Hikvision moved from No. 2 to No. 1 for the percentage of marketshare of IP cameras, according to a new IHS report.

Hikvision makes up 18.9 percent of the global network security camera market. That's up 5.9 percentage points over the China-based camera manufacturer's No. 2  ranking of 13 percent, IHS said.

For the fourth year in a row, Hikvisioin took the No. 1 spot for the global video surveillance market, with a 16.3 percent of the international CCTV and video surveillance market, according to IHS. This year, HIkvision's revenues are up 50 percent over last year. This more than doubled Hikvision's market share of two years ago, according to a prepared statement from IHS.

The IHS report also indicates the company's efforts in the overseas market over the years by ranking it as No. 2 in the CCTV and video surveillance equipment category in the EMEA market, achieving a 9.2 percent market share.
