Indala absorbs MR Access

November 11, 2004 SAN JOSE, Calif. - Indala Corp., a manufacturer of physical and logical access control products that is a division of Assa Abloy, said it has merged into its business MR Access, a Cardiff, U.K.-based provider of smart card and reader products as well as manufacturer of magnetic stripe card readers. MR Access will be renamed Indala Limited, and its office in Cardiff will now become Indala’s headquarters for Europe, Middle East and Africa activities. A principal component of the deal was MR Access’ customer 13.56 MHz RFID and magnetic stripe products. Earlier this year, the identification technology group at Assa Abloy purchased MR Access. MR Access, formerly known as MR Sensors and founded in 1984, previously was a distribution partner of Indala. Selva Selvaratnam, former head of MR Access, will serve as managing director of Indala Limited.
