Intercity’s branch capitalizes on a growing market

LAKEVILLE, Mass. - Two years after picking up a new location through its acquisition of alarm company Wayne Corp., Intercity Alarms is relocating that Fairhaven, Mass., office to better capitalize on the growing population here. The move, set to happen at the beginning of this month, will centrally locate the branch and allow the company to tap into an area growing thanks to the addition of a commuter train that connects it with Boston. In the first year, Ridgeway Crouch, president of Intercity Alarms, expects the branch will see its 5,000 customers in that area grow by 20 to 40 percent. “Hopefully at the end of two or three years we’ll be doubling in size,” he said. Intercity’s former service manager, Matt Haveran, will serve as operations manager for the branch. “We have desperately needed a more central location and operationally Lakeville is the perfect place for us to be,” said Haveran. “It is basically an hour or less from everywhere we need to go.” Over the next 18 months, plans call for the company to add between five to seven technicians to handle the anticipated workload. The branch move is part of an overall plan to expand into the Southeastern Massachusetts market, a strategy that began just a few years ago. The company serves 25,000 customers with branches on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and headquarters in South Yarmouth, Mass.
