PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Securitas, a global knowledge leader in security based here, announced on Aug. 1 that Jeremy Brecher has been promoted to chief technology officer and has become a member of the Securitas North America Division Management Team.

As CTO, Brecher's new role will focus on customer-facing technologies across all business lines in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, including cloud-based customer portals, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. He will be championing the development of the next generation cloud, security-as-a-service (SaaS) and managed customer services for Securitas.

"Jeremy is a highly regarded and respected IT leader and technology expert in the security sector," Santiago Galaz, president, Securitas North America, said in the announcement. "He has a keen insight into the future direction of the security and IT sectors and expertise in real-world customer applications. Jeremy is seen as a thought leader in the areas of Cloud and IoT technology. His goal is to leverage and expand upon the successful leadership position of SES in web-based and managed services to the entire Securitas North America platform and all our customers."

Brecher started his career in the electronic security industry in 1995 with ACI, a regional systems integration company which was acquired by Diebold Inc. in 2004. Brecher held multiple leadership roles in field operations and engineering with Diebold and served as vice president, technology, for Diebold Electronic Security. Securitas acquired Diebold's U.S. and Canadian Electronic Security business in 2015 and Brecher was appointed senior vice president technology & CIO of Securitas Electronic Security Inc., here he was responsible for SES enterprise information technology operations, technology strategy and the development of managed services for SES customers. Brecher has 20-plus years of senior technology management, infrastructure and networking experience in the security industry.

"Throughout my career, I have enjoyed the challenge and reward of leveraging proven and emerging technologies to deliver innovative security solutions for customers. In today's data driven, connected and mobile world, it's an exciting time to develop and deliver the next generation of customer-facing solutions and services," Brecher said in the announcement. "I look forward to building upon our success at Securitas Electronic Security for the broader customer base throughout Securitas North America."

Brecher told Security Systems News that his new role “is at the divisional level looking at technology, specifically focusing on customer-facing technology across all of our business lines in North America, and making sure that we have a unified strategy moving forward.”

He noted that the cloud is increasingly becoming a more important part of that strategy. “We will be taking the data from different business lines, combining it, working on analytics and AI type technologies, so that we are able to represent the overall business and our customers in a single way and leverage the different types of security businesses within Securitas North America to drive that effort at a faster and more focused pace.”

Brecher holds a bachelor's degree from Queens College in Queens, N.Y. He currently chairs the Security Industry Association Cloud, Mobility and IoT Subcommittee and is a past member of advisory boards for SSN's TechSec Solutions conference and the Connected Security Expo.

"Jeremy's vision, leadership and track-record of implementing innovative cloud-based services for SES and our customers is unmatched within the electronic security industry today," Tony Byerly, president, Securitas Electronic Security, said in the announcement. "Leveraging his expertise and strategic insights for the greater benefit of all Securitas customers, positions Securitas to continue our leadership position in providing world class web-based services, partnering with industry leading technology partners, and creating a best-in-class customer experience."
