Kennebunkport approves changes to false fire alarm ordinance

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine--Seacoastonline.com, a division of Seacoast Newspapers, reported voters in Kennebunkport approved changes to the town's false fire alarm ordinance on June 9.

Voter-approved changes to the fire alarm ordinance established that while false alarms caused by weather, wild animals or power outages are beyond an owner's control, other causes are not.

First offenders will receive only a written warning for false alarms; any offense after the first will result in a penalty, starting at $50 for a second offense, $200 for a third offense and $500 for any false alarms thereafter.
