LOS ANGELES-The Los Angeles Police Department reported that false alarms in 2007 were reduced nearly 50 percent since 2003, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In 2007, the police department reported 59,482 calls, down from 109,295 in 2003. Those results mean the City of Los Angeles has an alarm dispatch rate of approximately .25, or one false alarm per system every four years. The national standard for effective alarm management programs is a rate of .5, or two false alarms per system every two years. ssn
