Law Enforcement Associates names Heinz as director of training

RALEIGH, N.C.—Law Enforcement Associates, a U.S.-based developer, manufacturer and distributor of electronic surveillance and monitoring equipment, on April 13 announced the appointment of Dan Heinz as director of training.

Heinz, who also will head LEA's National Surveillance Academy, brings a 28-year background in law enforcement, including work as a deputy sheriff, drug task force special agent and multiple supervisory positions through the rank of lieutenant. He also has served as an expert witness in both narcotics enforcement and surveillance operations at the state and federal levels. Heinz was most recently training manager for the North Carolina Department of Justice at the Justice Academy.

“Dan's specialized background will be a crucial resource to customers seeking real-world knowledge of surveillance and covert operations techniques, as well as hands-on experience in the use of LEA's portfolio of electronic surveillance equipment,” Paul Briggs, president and CEO of LEA, said. “We intend to make our training programs an increasingly important part of our overall business model, and look forward to Dan's expertise and contributions.”

In addition to on-site customer training services, LEA offers a series of three-day training seminars at its Surveillance Training Academy in Raleigh. The seminars are limited to law enforcement or government personnel working in intelligence, organized crime, counterdrug, computer forensics, vice or internal security.
