LAS VEGAS--Linksys, a provider of VoIP, wireless and networking hardware, announced at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show on Jan. 7 the release of its Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring Camera with Audio.
The Linksys camera contains its own Web server allowing it to connect to a network either wirelessly or through an Ethernet connection. Once connected, the camera can be monitored from any PC in the house. It can also be monitored outside the home network via a password protected online account.
When the camera detects motion while in "security mode" it sends a message with a short video attached to up to three email addresses. It is then possible to log onto the live video stream and record the audio/video to a local hard drive.
