OTTAWA—LoBenn, a designer and manufacturer of IP products for the security and fire alarm monitoring industry, based here, hired David Brown as president in September. Brown joins the company with 30 years of experience in the technical management aspect of the telecommunications industry. Brown’s new role as president will be to propel IP into the security world “because I believe the security industry has yet to squarely face the challenge and to understand the scope and challenge of VoIP.” LoBenn develops IP solutions for burglar and fire panels that don’t require changing out the existing panel. “LoBenn inserts a communication module in the existing panel and in the central station that makes the communication between the panel and central station over IP completely transparent,” Brown said. LoBenn is currently “starting the product deployment phase, which has been in development for a three-year trial and testing period,” said Brown.
