Mace hires Giacalone as president of Mace CSSS

HORSHAM, Pa.--Mace Security International, Inc. on May 12 announced it had hired industry veteran Peter P. Giacalone to serve as the president of its new Security Services Division, which includes newly acquired wholesale monitoring company, Mace CSSS. Mace also announced on May 14 it had hired another industry vet Morgan Hertel to be Giacalone's director of operations at Mace CSSS. Hertel has over 30 years of field and management experience in the security monitoring industry and is an active member of several security association committees, including those of SIA, NBFAA, and CSAA.

"I am very excited to announce that we have hired Peter. Peter is well known in the security industry and is a great addition to Mace's management team. Our wholesale central monitoring station is established with loyal customers and has great customer service," said Mace president/CEO Dennis Raefield in a press release. "We are confident that Peter will be able to spearhead more aggressive growth in our central station, and develop a unique commercial dealer program that will allow us to cross-sell our monitoring services and surveillance products to all of our customers. The addition of a Security Services Division, and the acquisition of a wholesale monitoring platform continues our strategy to re-invigorate and expand our offerings and commitment to the security market," Raefield concluded.

Giacalone said he was ready to go to work. "I'm very excited because their vision is my vision," Giacalone said. "I've been an independent consultant for the last three years, and had no intentions of stopping that and have been very, very successful with it, but because the Mace vision was right in line with my vision ... It was almost an offer I couldn't refuse, because it's so rare to find a large company that has the same vision as you."

Located in Anaheim, Calif., Mace CSSS is a national UL-listed central station that monitors approximately 30,000 end user accounts on behalf of more than 300 dealer clients. Mace CSSS also provides nationwide video monitoring services, including CCTV and IP.

Giacalone, who has more than 30 years of combined experience in both the electronic security and wholesale monitoring industries, will oversee all general management and sales, as well as marketing, efforts associated with the Mace Security Services Division and Mace CSSS. He will also develop Mace's new commercial dealer program, which will support the customers of Mace's monitoring services and surveillance products. Giacalone is currently the chairman of the Central Station Alarm Association's Audio Verification Standards Committee and the Security Industry Association's Two Way Audio Verification Standards Committee. He is also a frequent guest speaker at the International Security Conference. Giacalone is a private industry consultant through his Giacalone Associates, LLC and was most recently executive vice president/chief operating officer for Hackensack, N.J.-based SafetyCare, Inc.
