Manufacturer of testing products adopts new name

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - To better represent the array of products it offers and the market that it serves, Home Safeguard Industries has created a new division called HSI Fire & Safety Group. The change comes as the company launches new fire alarm and detector test equipment product line under the brand name VersaTools. The company is known for its products that test fire alarm and security products, such as aerosal smoke sprays and reach poles. “Home Safeguard had more of a consumer connotation,” said Scott Pyle, president and chief executive officer of the company. “Yet we were producing and marketing products for the professional installer and professional security alarm channels.” The new name also follows continued growth at the company, with a double digit increase recorded in 2003 when compared with 2002 numbers, said Pyle. Along the launch of additional products, some of the growth can be attributed to the company expanding its distribution network globally. As a result, HSI Fire & Safety Group has increased its employee base by 40 percent, with people added in research and development, operations and administrative functions.
