DAVENPORT, Iowa—Per Mar Security Services, a super-regional based here, has acquired Northern Wisconsin Security & Sound, of Arbor Vitae, Wis., a company with particular expertise in the new home construction market, according to Per Mar president Brian Duffy.

Duffy told Security Systems News that the acquisition allows Per Mar to add “a strong office in terms of work on new-home construction, so we are hoping to learn about what has made that so effective and hopefully expand that to other markets for us.”

The deal also gives Per Mar a much more local presence, which “is important to us in the way that we operate,” Duffy said. “We had a strong base of customers up in that area, and this now gives us an actual office location to service them out of, and also strengthens our position in what was already a strong market for us.”

Per Mar acquired 800 accounts in total, and will continue providing sound and other low-voltage services offered by Northern Wisconsin Security & Sound. Four employees from Northern Wisconsin Security & Sound will be joining the Per Mar team, and Duffy said, “We are excited to be able to add such quality employees who have built a great reputation by taking good care of their customers.”

Duffy declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Established in 1953, Per Mar has averaged three acquisitions per year, and Duffy said he expects that pace to continue.

“The company has consistently grown organically, so we certainly expect to continue that or hopefully even accelerate by providing more back-office support,” he explained. Per Mar continues to look for “acquisition opportunities in our footprint and in adjacent markets where we can expand in areas that make sense geographically for us.”

Per Mar operates 24 locations in the Midwest, as well as a UL-listed, Five Diamond Certified central alarm station that monitors more than 40,000 customers.
