MDI plans to enter the monitoring business Brief

SAN ANTONIO—MDI Security Systems, the command-and-control software maker, announced in a state of the company address released on Nov. 13 that it plans to open its first central station here in 2008. MDI, which purchased the “Safe Initiatives” brand portfolio from Stratis Authority, effective July 11, plans to manage all video surveillance and alarm monitoring for its school district clients as a component of its LearnSafe Initiative. The company plans to remodel a 16,000-square-foot facility, which was acquired as part of a shares purchase of STC Holdings in October, to house MDI’s new central station. MDI currently has its corporate offices in the same facility.
